SAM F. EPPOLITO, JR. was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 1, 1948 and passed away at the age of 76 on April 2, 2024. He was born to Sam F. Eppolito Sr. and Alice Kastelic Eppolito who preceded him in death. He adored his beautiful sister, the late Joyce DeAngelis of Cleveland and always shared fond memories of time spent with her.
Following enlistment in the U.S. Navy in 1970, Sam enjoyed travels through the Mediterranean on the USS John F. Kennedy Aircraft Carrier (CV-67). He often joked that he was the official potato peeler but we know his true role was in the fighter squadron.
He had a passion for sharing Christ with family and friends and was not ashamed to spread the Word of God. Sam was a 2nd generation sign painter and would often reminisce about his childhood and how he spent time with his father at Jay Sign Co. Sam was honored to pass this legacy to his oldest son Chris. One of his favorite opportunities was co-owning Expo Signs and having all 3 children working there together. He was a humble man who lived a simple life and gave much of what he had to those he loved. Sam adored raising his three children and taking on the role of father to Michael and Allison with the passing of his sister Joyce. There was never a day without sarcasm or humor and anyone who knows Sam can confirm that he knew how to make anyone laugh.
Sam was a loving father of Christopher Eppolito (Rebecca), Natalie Frank (Aaron) and the late Daniel Eppolito who he raised with his favorite former wife, Sandy Hanzel. Devoted Father figure and Uncle to Michael DeAngelis (late Michelle), and Allison DeAngelis Walsh (John) who he loved and cared for as his own. Cherished grandfather to John, Michael, Chris, Alex, Nick (Ambra), Adam, Alyssa, Danny, Jay, Amanda, Gregg, Christian, Seth and Jon. Dearest great-grandfather of Asher and special friend and cousin of many.
