Rev. John Hite, III Obituary

REV. JOHN L. HITE, III (MSG, U.S. Army, Retired), age 71, of Garfield Heights and Seven Hills, entered into Heaven on February 25, 2024. Loving and devoted husband of Mary Jane (nee Arko); loving father of Laura Zielinski (Ray), Bob Barnett (Jill), Tom Barnett (Chris), Jennifer Barnett, Lisa Neal (Brad), Candice Kaczmarek (Mike), Peggy Hite, and niece Meghan White (Justin); grandpa and papa (extra fun) of Ray, Julia, Matthew, Tyler, Connor, Damin, Shana, Mel, Bradley, Collin, Olivia, Adalyn, and Ava Bear; great grandpa (papa) of Armani, Kinley, Madison, and Abigail.  John was preceded in death by his loving grandson Chad “Chadaroonie”  and parents John and Juanita.  He is the brother of Joanne Tagliarina, Carol Woods-Ceffarati, Linda Runt (Joe); Richard (deceased) (Carla), and Michael (deceased).

John passed away unexpectedly, leaving a void in the lives of countless people from all walks of life. If you had the privilege of meeting John Hite, you were sure to experience his sense of humor, infectious laughter, his ability to bring a smile to your face, or one of his warm, embracing hugs. His kindness and willingness to help anyone, whether a lifelong friend or a stranger, knew no bounds.

John was an extremely devoted man of his faith, his family, and his country. His unwavering commitment to these values defined his life's purpose.

John married Mary Jane in 1979 and happily became a family with her and her 4 children, who he considered his own, and together, they added 3 more girls to their beautiful family and later adopted his niece, Meghan. John was incredibly proud of all his children.  Nothing brought John more joy than spending time with his beautiful wife and his entire family.

After more than 30 years of dedicated service, John retired from the Army, having served with both the Ohio and Texas National Guard where he formed close bonds with those who respected and admired his extremely hard work ethic and leadership roles. These Army members remained close friends with John and were loved dearly by him and his family. John's patriotism and love for his country were unwavering, a true testament to his character.

His retirement allowed him to devote his time to making cherished memories with his 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure. Raising his great-grandson, Armani, was a role that brought immense light and absolute happiness into his life.

John's extended family went beyond blood relations. His church group, pastors Bible study, class reunion buddies, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him became part of his cherished circle. He made everyone feel heard, valued, and loved. Above all, John's gift was sharing the word of God. He not only spoke of his faith but lived it every day. His life was a testament to the teachings he held dear, and his impact on those around him was profound.

John lived each day to the absolute fullest, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ his Lord and savior. While we mourn his passing from this life, we take comfort in knowing that he is now in paradise with the Lord, receiving his eternal rewards and blessings for a life well lived here on earth.
